The Community Drum feels that it is very important that others living with HIV/AIDS know that they are not alone in their battle. It is our hope to provide this online community as a safe place for Alaska Natives who are living with HIV/AIDS to come together and talk, and to provide HIV/AIDS care information.

This site is completely anonymous, but we choose to disclose our heritage and our gender because we feel it is important for others in our communities to realize that this disease strikes everyone and it is here in Alaska.

Speaking out and identifying our tribe does not mean our entire tribal culture has this disease. We are proud of who we are and wish no harm to anyone by disclosing our stories. We only want to help others.

This site is open to all Alaskans with the exception of the forum which is only for Alaska Natives who are living with HIV/AIDS to share and support each other.

The information presented in this site is for information only and not meant to take the place of your doctor's care.

How to Join The Online Forum

If you want to join the online community, all you have to do is submit your email address to your medical care provider or to a CAB member, who in turn will submit it to the web coordinator. No name is necessary, just a valid email address, and you will be emailed an invitation to join the online forum.

To protect your privacy and to ensure the forum stays safe for people to come together, your email address will remain confidential, and will not be shared.

There will be NO spamming or harassment of members allowed AND this is not a dating service. Anyone who violates these rules will be banned from the community forum.

This website and online community is maintained by the ANTHC HIV/AIDS Prevention Program and HIV/AIDS Services staff.
